Young Family

Meet The Owner

With extensive experience in the construction and home improvement industry, Dave is uniquely qualified to provide first class inspections and common sense advice.  Dave grew up in the home improvement arena.  His father (Richard Eugene Dicks ie. RED the inspiration for the company name), a home builder and remodeler for nearly 50 years, taught Dave the basics of remodeling beginning in his high school years.  After graduating high school, Dave served as a missionary intern for TIME Missions in Monterrey, Mexico. There, Dave learned to speak Spanish.

In 1991, Dave entered his first year of college at the Moody Bible Institute (Chicago, Illinois).  His time at Moody was instrumental in learning how to communicate with people.  He has a bachelors degree in the Science of Integrated Ministries, a pastoral theology program. With a passion for communications, people, and languages, in addition to Spanish, in recent years Dave has added Italian to his languages spoken. He is a lifelong learner, languages included!

Upon exiting college, Dave reentered the home improvement industry.  Starting with inside sales at a small lumber yard, then advancing to outside sales for an equipment company in Des Moines, he knows the nature of quality construction materials.  In 2007, Dave entered the entrepreneurial world by starting a business as a sub-contractor in the remodeling and home building space. During that time, Dave acquired experience in light commercial work as well, performing numerous tenant finish improvements for local companies.

Most currently, Dave has brought his remodeling business to a close to focus exclusively on bringing exemplary home inspection services to neighborhoods of Central Iowa.  And he will do so with the same integrity and quality of workmanship he brought to the remodeling world.

Good To Know...

The State of Iowa does not require licensing of home inspectors; however, the certifications and Continuing Education required by InterNACHI are more than adequate training for the certified inspector so that he can provide sufficient and accurate information regarding a home’s condition.
